Is coverage that pays a defined amount of money (limit) to a designated person (beneficiary) upon the death of a different named person (insured) on the policy.

It is important to carefully consider the amount of coverage.  For a primary income earner, the amount should be enough to continue providing for the family for many years to come.  However even in the case of dependent life insurance coverage, funeral and other expenses associated with the death of a loved one can be a significant financial burden that life insurance can help alleviate.
